Commission Policies and Procedures

Please read these over before submitting your form!

-It usually takes me several weeks to finish a piece after I start it, depending on the design. Therefore, I may need to put you on a waitlist if I have other orders already in progress. If this is the case, I will let you know and keep you updated as I get through the orders ahead of yours!

-I will not make anything hateful or discriminatory, and have absolutely zero tolerance for suggestions of such things, so please don't bother. Also if you don’t support trans rights, please do not interact.

-After you submit the form, I will send you an email with my thoughts about your design and we can discuss and try out sketches until we land on something that you love and that I can carve for you!

-In this form, please provide as much descriptive information as you currently know about your piece (It's okay if you don't know a lot yet; we will discuss the design before I start making anything anyway!). That includes stain colors, poses, size, shapes, anything that seems relevant.

-I will provide photographs of the piece at these stages of the process for your approval: initial hand-drawn schematic --> roughed-out shape --> sanded piece --> stained and finished piece

-Finished pieces will be mailed/given after they have been stained and finished with a clear topcoat.

-I do NOT paint my pieces, as I want wood grain to be as visible as possible. That’s what makes wooden carvings unique. I do use stain to add shading and definition and color when necessitated by the design, but I will not use paint.

-I will ask for half of the agreed-upon payment when I start the design (if you're on the waitlist I will NOT ask for it until I start your piece). I will ask for the other half to be sent upon approval of the completed piece. I will NOT put it in the mail until the price is paid in full.

-I own all schematic designs and any variations thereof, and I reserve the right to reuse them even if I originally created them for a commissioned piece.

-I reserve the right to use photos of all of my pieces in any way I wish, even if the piece itself has been sold. This includes posting on social media, including in a portfolio, submitting to a competition, and any other use for which I decide to show or advertise my work.

  • "Besides being an amazingly talented artist, Elise was wonderful to work with. She was helpful in coming up with practical design ideas that helped bring the image in my head into a the real world. She also kept me involved through the creation process so I could suggest tweaks as my item was being carved. In the end, I left with a beautiful piece of art and the fulfilling experience of working with an engaged and accommodating professional. I can not recommend working with Elise highly enough!"
